Sparks from the City

So I have finally managed pry my hands away from the mixing and finally put the EP out (you have no idea how much I want to just push faders about). I told myself I have made on a budget of stuff I have owned for years and it already sounds good for what is basically a bedroom demo. So after I argued with myself I uploaded it, along with an unheard song, Clockwork and it can now be downloaded for any price you want to pay, including FREE.

It is a mix of rock, pop, indie, electronic, chip and guitars…and my mouth.
Hope you enjoy it, chummmmmmmmmmmmmms!

Caves of Steel

Just a quick post about the current state of my EP, which you can hear below.

None of the songs are finished yet, but Let’s Play is the closest to done. I will also be adding one new unheard song to the final version (this will most likely change).

Let Us Play

Along with actually trying to get some shows to play I have been working on getting some sort of decent demo/EP ready. I have picked the tracks that I am going to put on there but I want to re-record a lot of the vocals and guitar. The first that is closest to finished is Let’s Play which I decided to put the guitars back in and fiddle with some of the sounds.
Originally this wasn’t even going to be part of the EP as I just didn’t like it but now after playing it a few times with its new guitar I am really proud of it.

Scraps

Since I have stopped doing the Three Hour Song project I have actually been getting things done and finished. Lower yours eyes.

My first Christmas song:

I guess this is actually an old one but I want to rework it and make it a bunch more guitar.

My second Christmas song:

and finally a rough demo of a song that will most likely not be finished until the new year.

Three Hour Song #11: Act Your Age

Song number eleven for the Three Hour Song project.

Just a tad more electronic than the last few.

Touch Me, Tease Me

A new version of our first demo has been uploaded, currently called Touch Me, Tease Me. It has a couple of sound changes and is a little more clear than the first demo.

We currently have the base for quite a few other songs which are being worked on and as soon as they are in a decent form I will upload them to Soundcloud for all to hear.

With Love & Science

My new band now has a name, With Love & Science, and a whole bunch of pages all over the net. So far we only have the one demo but soon enough we will have a handful of new demos to show off our C64 electro pop.

Here is the links to all our pages, feel free to join.

Let’s talk about 8-bit electro pop music

For a while now I have wanted to play my solo music live but I know I am not a particularly good front man, just muttering between songs and singing almost in tune. So after a couple of false starts with looking for singers in London I have finally got together with someone I have know for about eight years from Hull.

I have had quite a lot of music already made or started, most of which is asking for vocals but never got any, either through me not having chance or just not being able to. Also some of this music is very electronic, which is good, but live I want to play guitar because it is my strongest instrument but the guitar doesn’t work with the song.

So far we have a couple of songs right on the edge of completion, just need a bit more practise or a few lyrics adding, and have a handful more waiting to be worked on. We decided to upload our first (almost) finished song for people to hear and see what our aim is with the band.
I have always had a soft spot for the sounds of the C64 so that is playing a big part in the electronic side of the music. The line-up is currently just me and David Hargreaves playing to a backing track of drums and synths, but if things go well sometime in the future we may bring in more live musicians.

Also we don’t yet have a name.
